Hi, my name is TJ Guttormsen (don't worry, I'm not going to ask you to try to pronounce that last name of mine), and I'd like to tell you about The Insight Method - and how it works.
After working as a mental trainer and coach for the better part of a decade, one thing has become obvious: most businesses and organizations function far below their full potential.
This is probably not news to you, and you might even believe that reaching 100% of a business' potential is unrealistic. Here at Insight, we are realists and tend to agree with that to some extent (after all, not even most machines can output 100%, 100% of the time). We do, however, believe that most businesses are capable of performing even better than they themselves think. And that they can start performing better by using less effort and resources.
You see, the problem that most businesses face isn't laziness, poor leadership, faulty strategies or a lack of technique. The main issue that is holding most business back today is a lack of understanding. A lack of understanding of how the human mind, and human communication, actually work.
Improving anything is practically impossible if you don't understand how and why it works. And once you understand how something works, understanding what you need to do to improve it becomes easy.
While this might sound like something of a platitude to many, fundamental understanding is something that is often ignored in favor of more techniques. Techniques that often won't work fully unless the people using the technique understands why they need to use it. And, of course, once you truly know why you need to do something and how something works - the what to do suddenly becomes a lot easier.
And this is what we do here at Insight. We help people understand why things work the way they work, and once they do - they immediately know what to do to master those things better.
Does that make sense?
Let's take a look at a silly, but fun, example. Even if you don't spend too much time on it, please play along for a minute or two - I promise it's worth it.
Let's learn a simple how.
I'm going to give you a little brain teaser to think about for a second. I'm going to ask you to do something, and I'm going to start with asking you to do it - before I tell you how to do it. And I promise that after I reveal the how you'll not only be able to solve this brain teaser easily - but you'll also be able to solve all brain teasers that are like this for the rest of your life.
Using paper and a pen, how can you draw this drawing without ever lifting your pen from the paper?
(It is possible, I promise.)
Click here to learn the how.
Use a clickable pen. When you need to make the spaces, simply click the pen so the ballpoint retracts.
And now that you understand how the solution to this brain teaser works, you're all set. I can give you a million more drawings, and because of your new understanding, you'll always be able to solve the task.
Now, granted, I could've also walked you through the technique of this. I could've shot a video of me drawing this drawing, line by line. And as I created the empty space, you would've instantly understood the how thanks to the technique. But you would've also spent a lot more time learning it. And if the task had been more complicated and you had to remember every detail of what to do in order to use the technique - you might well have missed the how altogether. And if you didn't know how a clickable ballpoint pen worked, then me clicking it and being able to move the pen along the paper without making a line would've been incomprehensible.
Don't believe me? Try doing this with a 2-year-old child who has only used crayons its whole life, and watch the amazement and confusion on their face - and then their utter inability to repeat the technique you just showed them.
The Insight Method.
And that is what happens in most cases where people learn techniques (aka what to do) without having a fundamental understanding of why the technique, and how the area it's being applied to, works.
This is why The Insight Method isn't about learning more techniques. It's not about being told what to do. It's about showing people how things already work. It's about giving them insight into why we should do the things we should do. Because as soon as we understand the how and why, the what not only becomes obvious, but it becomes ingrained in us and we will never stop doing it. This results in us spending less energy and effort on performing techniques. And having to use less effort to achieve better results will always improve performance.
Insight is an update to your brains operating system. Having insight means that you don't have to remember to use your techniques - because the right technique becomes the only logical thing for you to do.
Achieving more with less effort - well, what can be better for business than that?
